Another restaurant name change

While driving along PCH near the “water tower house”, I was surprised to see a new name on the landmark restaurant. For over 50 years, Sam’s Seafood was a familiar sight for area travelers. Do you remember the swordfish that resided on the restaurant sign?

Then about a year ago, the restaurant re-opened under the new name Kona.

With another investor in the picture, the restaurant is now operating under the name Don the Beachcomber. Many of you will remember this name as a famous destination in Hawaii. This Sunset Beach area restaurant is not associated with the famous restaurant.

Over the years there have been several Beachcomber restaurants.   There was only the one original Don the Beachcomber.  The new investor acquired the rights to the famous name.

Already the restaurant has added five new cooks.  There are reviews already posted on www.yelp.com – and they rate the food worthy of five stars.

I hope this explains the new name at a familiar location.
